How to Find a Host Family

Are you interested in living abroad with a host family?

Would you like to experience a new country and culture through the eyes of a local family?

Do you like taking care of children and creating fun activities?

Do you like to share your family’s and/or country’s traditions like holiday’s?

If you answered – yes – to any of these questions, then you should consider being an Au Pair in a different country.

I personally have experience being an Au Pair in France, however you can be an Au Pair in many countries around the world! All it takes is the interest, motivation and determination to make it happen. That’s because, I recommend finding a host family on you own – through no agency with costs – through the following websites:

Au Pair World

Au Pair.com

These websites are both free, secure and trustworthy and I found nice families on both of them. You can make a detailed profile for free, upload photos and filter what you want out of your experience i.e. preferred location, how many children, size of the town, yes/no pets, ect.

For example, as part of the TAPIF or Teaching Assistant Program in France, I was specifically looking for a host family in Montpellier, France and landed on multiple options. I even connected with a family I didn’t end up choosing while in France, so you really can create a network just by using these sites.

Good luck finding your perfect host family!
